Er Denizcilik Sanayi Nakliyat ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Er Denizcilik A.Ş./ ER Shipping) was founded in 1990 as the shipping arm of ERGENÇ family's ER Group Of Companies (main business being mining and coal trading) and acquired its first ship MV Balaban-I (25,651 dwt, 1979 built, laker type bulk carrier) in 1991. Thenafter, it continued to expand with further acquisitions of MV Aker (34,698 dwt, 1983 built bulk carrier) in 1994, MV Fuat Bey (27,652 dwt, 1985 built, logger type bulk carrier) in 1997, and MV Nazire (42,842 dwt, 1985 built bulk carrier) in 2003.

In order to take advantage of the all-time-high S&P markets that have prevailed between 2003-2008 as a result of historically high freight rates, Er Denizcilik A.S. has sold three of its vessels (MV Aker in 2004, MV Balaban-I and MV Nazire in 2007). Under the fleet renewal programme, Er Denizcilik A.S. has taken the delivery of three Supramax bulk carriers, all built in COSCO Guangdong Shipyard (MV Balaban 56,754dwt 2009 built, MV Er Nazire 56,716dwt 2010 built, MV Er Maden 56,522dwt 2012 built). The company still has one more Supramax bulk carrier and one Handysize bulk carrier (35,700dwt) to be built in the same shipyard with delivery dates being March 2013 and September 2013. The Company, having concentrated on and specialized in mainly handysize and handymax bulk carriers, have had all its transactions within these segments so far. However the management is always monitoring other shipping sectors in order to be ready to catch any opportunity that may arise.

Er Denizcilik Fleet has served almost all major Charterers; Cargill, Glencore, Toepfer, Pan Ocean, J. Lauritzen, Hudson S. Lines, Oldendorff, Fednav are to name a few, on a worldwide basis, with an undoubtedly first class reputation and surely a clean record of performance. The Company is an all-in Shipping Company, doing the technical and operational management of their own ships as well as commercial fleets, and keeps these departments in high standards by its commitment to very strictly planned maintenance programs, enabling all updates about the new regulations, requirements, rules, etc. imposed by flag state, class society, IMO or other regulatory bodies as well as by the ports/countries where its vessels call are instantly recognized and implemented.

Er Denizcilik A.Ş. also acts as a Charterer; the company charters in ships for carrying coal cargoes (cargoes of the trading arm of the parent group) since 1972, being mostly active in the Black Sea - Turkey coal routes in smaller sizes but also does quite a few larger (handy-handymax size) coal imports from South Africa and China into Turkey. The volume of such in-house coal business is about 350,000 tons per annum.

Er Denizcilik A.Ş. is a member of BIMCO and Turkish Chamber of Shipping.
